The two short films “When It Rains” and “Blue” are experiments in mood in a film. Unscripted, with few people appearing in them, the films are about the changes in atmosphere within one specific space.
To make them, Brian spent some time exploring the 77 Service Center – a diesel mechanic shop, located at a truckstop in Central PA.
There wasn’t a purpose behind the project initially — it was more about discovering. Just looking with the camera to see what was there.
For “When It Rains,” the day was very rainy and dark. The resulting mood is foreboding and mysterious, then tapers off to something a little lonely.
Then, in “Blue,” it was a beautiful day — bright, windy, and gorgeous. Quite a change from “When It Rains.”
